- Abraham Caleb Brokaw 1773 – 1826Abraham Caleb Brokaw married **Mariah Stryker** in a Dutch Reformed church in Somerset County, New Jersey, on 8 January 1792, and they had a large family of whom **Cornelia**, born 15 March 1809, is a direct ancestor of Gina Cacace. The family moved to Warren Township in Jefferson County, Ohio, in 1823, taking seven children and leaving three behind in New Jersey, and Abraham died there in 1826. **Two independent secondary sources — a Find a Grave biography and a Geni chart built by other people for another purpose — agree on him, on the 1826 death and on his daughter Cornelia.** Neither is a record, and his middle name Caleb comes only from the chart.
- Cornelia Brokaw 15 March 1809 – 25 July 1907Cornelia Brokaw was born on 15 March 1809, by one account a twin, and married **Henry Stilwell** at Somerset County on 18 March 1830. The 1850 census finds them at Franklin Township with their children, and a biography on her memorial credits them with ten in all. Her maiden name is given as Brokaw on two independent records — her daughter Alice's 1876 marriage, where an indexer wrote it *Browka*, and her own memorial, which names her **Cornelia Stryker Brokaw Stilwell**. She was widowed in about 1857 and lived on another fifty years, dying on 25 July 1907 aged 98 and being buried at Elmwood Cemetery, North Brunswick — the third of this family into that ground, after her daughters Leah in 1889 and Alice in 1906. She is a direct ancestor of Gina Cacace.

It is recorded so it can be tested, not because it is established.

The Find a Grave biography of his sister lists a **John** among the children, and a Geni chart names him with dates — two secondary sources, independent of one another, agreeing. His descendants run William B Brokaw (1848–1914), Ernest Franklin Brokaw (1878–1952) and Paul Ely Brokaw Sr (1904–1980), and through them to the actress **Monica Potter**, who is Gina Cacace's fifth cousin once removed.

The naturalisation index gives his birthplace as Naples and no more — the comune his family came from is still the open question on this line, and the petition itself is now located precisely enough to order.

He married **Angelina Spatarella**, and the census sheet that records his job explains how they met: **the Spatarella family was enumerated on the very same page**, a few lines below his own. Angelina was nineteen and clerking in a tailor's shop; her father James was a tailor in a mending company. The two households were neighbours in Brooklyn, and the Cacace and Spatarella lines join in the next line of the census.

He registered for the wartime draft at **New Hyde Park** on 16 October 1940, aged thirty-five, and by then had moved out along the island from Queens into Nassau County — where his brother August's family also settled, and where he died in November 1971.

His stated birthplace moves: Germany in 1910, Russia thereafter, which is the ordinary experience of someone from a border region whose country kept being renamed around them.
