Person in this family
George Liddell
Born about 1835; death not recorded
George Liddell of Perth Amboy married Jane E. Stilwell, a daughter of Henry Stilwell and Cornelia Brokaw. The New Jersey state censuses of 1885 and 1895 find Cornelia living in their house. He and Jane had two daughters, Mary and Susan, both married and gone by 1885, and they adopted George S. Liddel (1873–1916), Jane's nephew — the son of her brother William H. Stilwell. From the volunteer-written biography on Cornelia Brokaw's Find a Grave memorial (src-951), not from a record this archive has read. Recorded so it can be tested.

What we still don't know
- [HE WAS AN IMMIGRANT] The 1895 New Jersey state census gives him as 60 and Foreign — so born about 1835 outside the United States. Where is not recorded. Liddell is a Borders and Northumbrian name and Scotland or the north of England is the obvious guess and nothing more. His naturalisation, or a passenger list, would say.
- [CONFIRMED FROM A RECORD] The 1885 New Jersey state census has him at Perth Amboy Ward 1 with Jane E Liddell, George S Liddell and Cornelia Stillwell — the household the biography describes, all four of them present.
- His own birth, parents and death.
- His daughters Mary and Susan Liddell, named in the biography and nowhere else here.
