Lottie Florence Mayer was born at New York City in 1890, the daughter of **John Mayer** and **Annie Gerken**, and married **Julius Edward Noga** at Manhattan on 13 October 1914. She appears in the 1915 state census as Florence L. Noga, aged 24, with Julius and their daughter **Ruth**, then six — so Ruth was born about six years before the marriage. She is Gina Cacace's second-great-grandmother. Until August 2026 this archive knew her only as 'Florence Meyer', with no parents and no dates.

- [THIS WEAKENS THE ASHKENAZI HYPOTHESIS] Finding 122 named her the **leading candidate** for the family's Ashkenazi ancestry, on the strength of the surname Meyer and the fact that nothing at all was known about her. Something is now known. Her parents are **John Mayer and Annie Gerken**, and **Gerken is a Northwest German name** — Hanover and Oldenburg — not an Ashkenazi one. A Jewish man might marry a Gerken and call a daughter Lottie Florence, but it is not the likely reading. She is **not eliminated**, because Mayer itself is still Mayer and her father is a blank; she is demoted. The candidates now stand roughly level, and finding 122 says so.
- Her own birth record, New York City 1890, which would give her parents' birthplaces and settle the question above.
- Her death, which is unrecorded. Her daughter Ruth was living with an aunt by 1920, which is what happens when a mother dies.
- Her parents' marriage, which would be in New York in the 1880s.
- [CONTROLLED NEGATIVE] **Her birth record is not indexed.** New York City births to 1909 were searched for a Lottie or Charlotte Mayer born 1889–1892 with a father John and a mother Gerken, and for any child at all of a John Mayer and an Annie Gerken. Nothing. The Lottie Mayers who do appear belong to a Louis Mayer of Syracuse, a Justus Mayer and a Nickolous Meyer. Her 1914 marriage remains the only record naming her parents.
