John Fitzgerald was a farmer who married Margaret Fraher in the Roman Catholic Chapel of Kildorrery on 25 February 1870. The civil marriage record describes both bride and groom as of "Full age" and names John's father as Maurice Fitzgerald, a farmer.
The marriage entry reads in part:
"Marriage of JOHN FITZGERALD and MARGARET FRAHER on 25 February 1870. Roman Catholic Chapel of Kildorrery. Full age. Maurice Fitzgerald."
Birth records identify John and Margaret as the parents of children born at Cullane from 1872 through 1878, including Richard, Ellen, David, William, and Johanna. Our family tree adds other children, but those claims are not independently documented in this archive.
John's birth and death have not been established. He must not be confused with the John Fitzgerald born at Caheratrant, County Kerry, in 1859: that John was only eleven in 1870, and no record links the two households.

- This is the full-age John Fitzgerald who married Margaret Fraher at Kildorrery on 25 February 1870 and fathered the Cullane children. He cannot be the eleven-year-old baptised in County Kerry in 1859, and no record links the two families.
- The family's registration geography is now precise. Cullane, Ballylanders sits in the **Galbally** registrar's district, **County Limerick**, inside the **Mitchelstown** Poor Law Union. Flemingstown, where Catherine Condon was born, is in the same **Mitchelstown union**. An earlier note in this archive described the Fitzgeralds and Condons as families 'twenty miles apart in different counties' — that overstated the distance. Both were inside one union, which makes the marriage an ordinary local one. Galbally had never been searched before August 2026 because it was absent from the district lists used.
