Sydney Selig was born in Brooklyn about 1902, a son of Samuel Selig and Gussie Nathanson, both of whom had come from the Russian Empire as children. He was 18 when the 1920 census found the whole family at home in Assembly District 12 — with their grandmother Fannie Nathanson, then seventy-three, living under the same roof. The brothers and sisters were Arthur (1905), Bernard (1906), Florence (1908), Edward (1910), Mildred (1912).

That marriage belonged to a different Florence — Florence Rose Seelig, daughter of Louis Seelig and Sarah Moore. The Selig and Nathanson people are kept, fully documented, as a deliberately separated group: no relationship to this family is currently established. See finding 117.

Nothing in their record refers to any year after 1903, so they cannot be alive: even somebody born in that year would be over a hundred and ten now.
