Florence Selig

Florence Selig was born about 1908, the eldest recorded child of Samuel Selig and Gussie Nathanson of Brooklyn, and appears in the family's household on the censuses of 1910, 1920 and 1930. **She did not marry August William Mayer.** This archive believed she did, on the strength of a Geni tree, and the whole Selig family was attached to the family through her. The marriage record of 17 July 1933 names the bride's parents as Louis and Sarah Moore, and a Florence Rose Seelig born at Manhattan on 15 April 1909 to exactly that couple is documented from her birth certificate onward. Nothing is now known of this Florence after the 1930 census, in which she is single in her father's house. See finding 117.

That marriage belonged to a different Florence — Florence Rose Seelig, daughter of Louis Seelig and Sarah Moore. The Selig and Nathanson people are kept, fully documented, as a deliberately separated group: no relationship to this family is currently established. See finding 117.
  • [SEVERED LINK] Her marriage to August William Mayer, and with it the attachment of the entire Selig and Nathanson family to this archive, was removed in August 2026 as an error. See finding 117.
  • Her marriage, her death and her burial are all genuinely unknown. The death of 2000 at Ocala, Florida that this archive carried for her came from the Geni tree and, since that tree had her married to the wrong man, it cannot be relied on and has been struck.
