Helen Elizabeth Brown was born about 1910 and married Howard Graham Jones on 21 June 1930 in Nassau County — certificate A6957, the record that gives her a full name. The censuses of 1940 and 1950 both find her at Great Neck on Long Island with him and their three children; in 1940 she was thirty. The census enters her as Helen B. Jones — the B almost certainly her own surname carried as a middle initial, which is the only reason Brown is recorded at all. She is Gina Cacace's great-grandmother.

What we still don't know
- [ANSWERED, 21 August 2026] Her middle name is Elizabeth, and the 1930 in her id is her marriage year. The Nassau County marriage index gives Brown, Helen Elizabeth, married 21 June 1930. This page previously said that both the E and the 1930 in `helen-e-brown-1930` were unsupported by any record. Both are now supported, and neither means what the id implies: the E is Elizabeth, and the 1930 is the year she married, not the year she was born — which is very likely how a woman born about 1910 came to have 1930 in her identifier. The id is left alone because ids are referenced elsewhere. Finding 150.
- [HER PARENTS ARE ON ONE DOCUMENT] Nassau County marriage certificate A6957 of 1930 names the parents of both parties. Her father and mother have never been known even by name. Nassau County records are not in the New York City Municipal Archives system; the Nassau County Clerk holds them.
- Her birth, her parents and her death are all unrecorded. Her middle initial B on the 1940 census is the archive's only independent trace of the Brown surname.
- [SHE DIED BEFORE 5 JANUARY 1996] Her husband's death notice calls her “the late Helen B.” and names a second wife, so she predeceased him. That is the only evidence of her death this archive holds — no date, no place, no burial. The All Saints churchyard at Great Neck, where he was interred, is the obvious place to ask.
