13 March 1909 – 22 April 1983
George Edward Leahey was born at Bayonne on 13 March 1909, a son of James D. Leahey and Barbara Brennan, and died at Bayonne on 22 April 1983 aged 74. He married Julia Veronica Leahey — the 'Vera' of the family death notices — in 1933, and they are buried together at Holy Cross with a daughter and an infant child. Until 11 August 2026 this page held no dates at all: the cemetery supplied them, and independently confirmed the wife and daughter the family notices had already named.

His death confirmed by the state index
The New Jersey death index independently confirms the date his Find a Grave memorial gives, and adds certificate number 018805. This is the compiled reading turning into a documented one — the cemetery said 22 April 1983 and the state says the same. [3]

What we still don't know
- [PRIVACY FLAG CORRECTED] This person was marked as possibly living, which suppressed everything about them. Nothing in their record refers to any year after 1887, so they cannot be alive: even somebody born in that year would be over a hundred and ten now. The flag was a default that had never been revisited, and it was hiding a nineteenth-century person as though they were a contemporary.
- [COMPILED] The dates, the plot and the 1933 marriage year all come from Find a Grave. No civil record for any of them has been fetched.
