She died at about twenty. **She is not in this archive under any other name, and she is deliberately entered here with no parents attached.** She is a strong candidate for one of the **six unidentified children of Dennis Leahey and Ann Galvin** — the gap this archive has been trying to fill for a long time. The family's own known children leave room at about 1873, and she lies on a Leahey stone in the family's cemetery. But she died in 1894, three years before Dennis C. married Ellen, so she cannot be their daughter, and nothing on the stone says whose daughter she was.

Nora and Dora are both ordinary short forms of Honora and the age fits, so this is very likely her — but the census says Nora and this archive says Dora, and the difference is left standing rather than tidied.

Vincent Leahey died on 8 October 1918, aged about six, and was buried eight days later in Ann Galvin Leahey's plot at Holy Name Cemetery. He is certainly of this family — the plot and the family monument say so — but he was not Ann and Dennis's son: he was born about March 1912, five years after Dennis died and when Ann was in her sixties or seventies. He is much more likely a grandchild, the child of one of their sons, buried in the family ground.

Although he lived and died at the Jersey Shore like his father, he was brought back to be buried at Holy Name Cemetery in Jersey City — the ground this family has used since the 1880s — in Block 6, Section B, Grave 103, at depth 2B.

Leahy worked in Bayonne harbor trades: the 1918 directory called him “boatmn,” the 1922–1923 directory called him “lab,” and his later notice called him a retired barge captain of the New Jersey Derby Company. The employer name is documented, but the company’s business type, legal identity, dates, principals, docks, barges and cargoes remain unidentified. Volunteer memorials document a first marriage to Catherine Agnes Tobin in 1898 and place him at depth 1E of the F-E-33 grave with Catherine (1A), daughter Helen (1B), daughter Mary (1C), and second wife Margaret (1D).

Rev. Celestine Leahy, S.A., was born Martin Leahy according to a memorial by a friar of his order and was enumerated as Martin in 1920. The earlier identification of a separate New Jersey birth-index row for Wallace L. Leahy is now doubted and retained only as a questioned alternative. The memorial gives 7 October 1918, conflicting with the index row's 13 July 1918. He entered the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement in 1937, professed vows in 1939, was ordained in 1945, later served in Rome and Vancouver, and died at Totowa on 20 January 2003.

Mary Mullins was born in New Jersey in April 1873 and married James J. Leahey in 1890, when she was seventeen. Eight children are recorded. The 1900 census finds five of them at home in Hudson County — James, Agnes, **Mary**, John and William. She had died before 1930, when the census enters her husband as a widower with all seven surviving children still living under his roof.

Ellen T. Reilly — **Nellie** in the family — was born in New York in March 1874, a daughter of Richard Reilly and Catherine Donovan, and married Dennis Charles Leahey in 1897. She died in July 1952 and lies at Holy Name Cemetery in Jersey City under a grey granite stone carved with a rosary and flowers, which names four of the family: **Anna E. 1874-1894, Ellen T. 1875-1952, Dennis C. 1866-1957 and Anna M. Wallace 1915-1984.** She was one of two Reilly sisters who married Leahey brothers — her sister Margaret Frances married Francis John Leahey.
