Conrad Emrich

Conrad Emrich was born in New York in January 1862, the son of Peter Emrich and Willea Wilbert, both German immigrants — he was the first of his line born in America. On 13 July 1884, aged twenty-two, he married Magdalena Schoendorf at Far Rockaway, Queens; she was twenty. In 1900 the census finds them in the Borough of Queens with five children at home — Mary, William, August, Elizabeth and John — and records that they had then been married fifteen years. A sixth child, Cecelia Juliana, does not appear on that return and was probably born afterwards.

- [TWO CANDIDATES FOR HIS DEATH, BOTH IN QUEENS, BOTH DIGITISED — AND THE FIRST SWEEP SAW ONLY ONE] A death-index sweep on 21 August 2026 reported a single Conrad Emrich in 5.3 million rows and it looked decisive. It was not: the index's spelling is not the family's, and widening to soundex gives three. Emrich, Conrad, 50 y, 2 October 1913, Queens, no. 3274 (implies b. ~1863) and Enrich, Conrad, 67 y, 29 August 1927, Queens, no. 4633 (implies b. ~1860) both fit a man born in January 1862 who lived in Queens — one year out and two years out. (The third, Emerich, Conrad, 67 y, 26 June 1892, Kings, is a generation too early.) His death is not settled. Both certificates are digitised and free; the discriminator will be the parents named on them — Peter Emrich and Willea Wilbert — or the spouse, Magdalena Schoendorf. Finding 151.
