Historical context
These background articles explain the places, work, and events in this entry.
What we still don't know
- The Social Security Death Index entry — born 11 February 1909, died January 1972 in Hudson County — fits on birth year, on county and on period, and no competing Edward Moylan of that year is recorded in Hudson. It is nonetheless an index match on a common Irish name, not a certificate, and is recorded as probable rather than proved.
- Only one of his seven children, Catherine, is indexed in the 1950 household. The others were either enumerated on lines the index did not capture or born afterwards; the census image would settle it.
- His parents are unknown. The 1940 and 1950 censuses give only New York as his birthplace.
