Life
James Condon was born at Flemingstown on 2 May 1876. His civil birth entry names his parents as Patrick Condon of Flemingstown and Mary Condon, formerly Ryan, and calls his father a "Labourer." Mary reported the birth and made her mark.
Our family tree later assigns six Jersey City children to James: May, Daniel M., Josephine, Patrick, Helen or Ella, and James A. It does not identify their mother, and this archive contains no census, marriage, or immigration record connecting the Flemingstown child to those children.
A 1906–1907 directory offers a possible lead: "Condon James P, bartndr, 142 Pavonia av." Here "bartndr" means bartender. The middle initial and the absence of age, birthplace, or relatives prevent identification of that man as James of Flemingstown. James's later life and death therefore remain unresolved.

A plausible but unlinked directory entry reads “Condon James P, bartndr, 142 Pavonia av”. Born 2 May 1876, Flemingstown, Mitchelstown district. Father a labourer. The Jersey City bartender/labourer at 142 Pavonia Avenue is only a same-name lead. James was born after the family crossed into the Mitchelstown registration district. A later James P. Condon appears at 142 Pavonia Avenue, but the directory is too terse to prove he was the Flemingstown child. [2]
