William Hickey was born in County Tipperary in 1799 and married Mary Grady, of County Limerick, in 1825. They emigrated to Queensland, where he died in 1862 aged about sixty-three. He is buried at Ipswich General Cemetery, but which grave was never written down. He is the earliest Hickey this archive holds and the first of the line to leave Ireland.
