This is a federal record confirming her New York birth and her relationship to both parents. A later New Jersey death-index row gives the exact birth date: “MARGARET,FITZGERALD,MARY,20050035314,5/31/2005,2/13/1920.” It also supports the indexed name Margaret Mary Fitzgerald and death on 31 May 2005 in New Jersey.
The parentage is now documented, but the mother’s identity still carries a given-name conflict: two civil records say Mary or Mary Cooney, while Sergeant Peter Cooney’s Army card says Annie Farley. No record yet proves which Derrycriff Cooney sister, if either, became Andrew’s wife.

- The 1920 census records her as an infant daughter with an age written as a fraction of a year, indexed as six months. Taken literally that is impossible for a child born on 13 February 1920, because the census recorded ages as of 1 January 1920. The birth date is treated here as correct. The likeliest explanation is an enumerator's error, or a misread handwritten fraction: a newborn would be written as 0/12 or 1/12, which is easily transcribed as 6/12. A less likely alternative is that the census infant was an earlier daughter of the same name who died, which would be testable against a New York death record for a Margaret Farley in 1919 or 1920.
