• Is he the same person as Terrence Farley?
• [EXCLUDED] Workhouse Terence Farrelly died 3 April 1911 aged 73 years 1 month (born about March 1838), far too old to be Andrew’s brother. The transcription itself conflicts by recording Gender F and Condition Bachelor. He remains a possible uncle-generation lead only, not attached.
• Is Terence the man who died at Bawnboy on 11 March 1968 aged 80? The age implies birth about 1888, matching his 1901 census age. Read the death register and check the informant before attaching it.
• A separate Terence Farrelly died at Bawnboy in 1911 aged 30. That implies birth about 1881, which clashes with Bernard's proved September 1881 birth. Probably a different man; not attached.
• [SURNAME] The family used Farrelly in Ireland and Farley in America, and both spellings appear for the same people. This archive had ended up holding some of Patrick Farrelly and Margaret Boyle's children twice, once under each surname; those duplicates are now merged. The change was not made at Ellis Island — inspectors there worked from passenger manifests written at the port of departure and did not record names at all. What actually happened is the ordinary thing: an Irish name got shortened in American mouths and American paperwork over years, and the family went with it. Andrew's own records show the whole transition, Farrelly in the Cavan registers and Farley on everything after.
• [MERGED] This person existed twice in the archive's data under the same id — once as a thin "Farley" stub and once as the fuller "Farrelly" record — a leftover from the earlier Farley/Farrelly merge. The generator silently kept whichever came last, which for one of the three meant publishing the poorer record. The two are now folded together and both spellings kept as alternates.
