Person in this family
Michael Melvin Mayer
This entry is about Michael Melvin Mayer (27 November 1904 – November 1971). For other family members with the same first and family name, see Michael Mayer (17 April 1855 – 30 July 1902), Michael Stillwell Mayer (Born 25 October 1885; death not recorded).
27 November 1904 – November 1971
Michael Melvin Mayer was born on 27 November 1904 at **Winfield**, a neighbourhood of Queens on Long Island, the eldest son of Michael Stillwell Mayer and Mary Magdalena Emerich — his birth certificate names them both, which is what proves the descent rather than assuming it. He was the only one of their three sons to reach old age: his brother Herman died at seven months in 1909 and his brother August, the youngest, died in 1973. He registered for the wartime draft at **New Hyde Park** on 16 October 1940, aged thirty-five, and by then had moved out along the island from Queens into Nassau County — where his brother August's family also settled, and where he died in November 1971.

What we still don't know
- Dates, places, occupations and relationships imported from the 1 August 2026 Geni export require verification against original records.
- His occupation and his burial. The 1940 draft card would carry an employer on the original image, which the index does not expose.
