John “Jack” Thomas McEntee was born in Jersey City in 1919, a son of John Frederick and Helen Veronica McEntee, and died on 1 December 2006 at age 87, according to his obituary. A public memorial directory gives the more precise birth date 28 May 1919, but this archive does not include the underlying record.
The obituary says he married Nancy Farley on 17 March 1943 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. It names their six children as “Jacqueline, Kathaleen, Sheila, Daniel, Nancy Jean, and Timothy.” A family tree instead connects him to Anna Frances Farley; no document in this archive proves that Nancy and Anna Frances were the same woman.
McEntee “entered the Army Air Corp in July 1942” and was “commissioned at Yale Cadets in 1944.” The notice credits him with “21 years of active service” followed by “another 19 years in Civil Service” in the “ICBM Community at Hill AFB, UT.” It also reports that he played semi-professional baseball and football, became a bridge Life Master in 1962, and completed a history degree at Weber State at age 58.
