Bridget Durkan was born in County Mayo about 1811 and was **ninety years old and a widow** in the 1901 census, living at Derrycreeve in Islandeady in the house of her son **Peter Cooney**. She is the mother of Peter and so the grandmother of the whole Derrycreeve family, and she was born within a few years of Catholic Emancipation and lived through the Famine in the county it struck hardest. She entered this archive in August 2026, from one line of one census sheet.
