Mary Ann Hickey was born at Ipswich, Queensland, on 6 October 1862, the eldest daughter of John Hickey of Limerick Junction and Ellen Condon, and a sister of William Hickey. In 1886 she married **Peter McGreevy** and they had nine children. Two of them she buried: Sarah Ellen at nine years old in 1897, and her eldest, **John Thomas, who died of wounds in France in August 1918**. She died at Ipswich on 20 January 1934, aged seventy-one, and is buried in the Roman Catholic section of Ipswich General Cemetery.
