Susan Dugan was born in Ireland and married Stephen Moore, also Irish-born. Their daughter Sarah, born in New York on 7 December 1878, married Louis Seelig in 1906. Her surname was read as **Darnan** on that marriage index and stood that way in this archive for a day; her daughter's death record of 1935 gives it as **Dugan**, and Dugan also appears — misplaced into the mother's slot — on Louis Seelig's own death record in 1947, which is how that record was finally identified. See finding 119. She is a direct ancestor of Gina Cacace.

- Whether the widowed Susan Moore, 58, born Ireland, heading a Manhattan household in the 1905 state census is her. It remains probable rather than proved: the Irish birth now matches, but the Sarah in that house is entered as 28 where ours was 26.
- [CONTROLLED NEGATIVE] With the surname corrected to Dugan, two searches that could not be run before were run and both came back empty: no marriage of a Stephen Moore to a Dugan anywhere in New York, and no child of any Moore–Dugan couple born 1865–1890 outside Ireland and Pennsylvania.
