Fifty additions and updates: local records, unresolved questions and field experiments

Forty-five new stories and five expanded entries bring the collection to 300. This batch follows Tabernacle household and community records, later outcomes in investigations, and experiments that changed how researchers understood the Pines. Expanded stories examine Whitesbog labor, Batsto buildings, Woodbine education, James Still’s office and Tuckerton Railroad finances.

Fifty new entries follow women’s letters, Tabernacle farm records, rural institutions, coastal disasters, unresolved cases and experiments in the Pines. Original documents and later interpretations are identified separately, with remaining questions stated beside the evidence.

Fifty new stories: community records and archaeology, maritime investigations, recovered identities, industrial plans and ecological experiments. Every entry links its sources and identifies what remains uncertain.

    The oyster port at Bivalve depended on cultivation, waterfront workspaces and rail transport. Its surviving sheds preserve the point where a Delaware Bay harvest entered a much larger market.

    Belcoville supplied housing and ordinary civic services for a rapidly built wartime factory. Its town, plant, and later archaeological district occupied different footprints and followed different timelines.

  41. new Silas Little’s forest: testing fire as a management tool
    A research forest established in 1933 helped turn controversial prescribed burning into a studied management practice. Its experiments also produced a hybrid pine intended to combine useful traits of northern and southern trees.
