A new congregation borrowed local rooms before building its own, creating relationships that outlasted the temporary arrangements.
The first congregation met at school
Pastor David Jones’s centennial message dates the first service to February 2, 1986, in Indian Mills School’s multipurpose room, and formal organization to November 2 with 201 charter members. Neighbors supplied more than space
In a January 2012 newsletter, Jones recalled confirmation classes at Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church, joint services with Methodist congregations, and summer use of Holy Eucharist’s air-conditioned chapel while its Catholic congregation worshipped down the hall. The temporary arrangements formed a practical network across denominations. January 30, 2012 newsletter.
Permanent rooms came later
The congregation’s history dates its church building to 1992, the Faith Development Center to 2006 and the preschool’s opening to September 2007. Its institutional beginning, first worship service and building opening are therefore different milestones. Congregational history.
