The modest store at the center of Chatsworth connected families, seasonal workers, mail, supplies and news. Four members of the Buzby family helped keep those connections alive across most of the twentieth century.
Fourteen-year-old Suzanne Garden left home on January 27, 1974. A reported downtown sighting became the last public trace before two children found her near Maplecrest Road three days later.
A surviving song recording and field photographs establish Charles Henry Grant as one of the Pine Barrens voices folklorist Herbert Halpert documented. Grant's tall tales reached a much wider audience when John McPhee retold them decades later.
