Mark Himebaugh: a missing child and successive case reviews (1991)

A search near home

Eleven-year-old Mark Himebaugh disappeared on November 25, 1991. Child Find of America’s bulletin places his last sighting around 4 p.m. and records the discovery of a left shoe approximately seventy-five yards from home. It reports no other trace recovered.

The record of follow-up work

Middle Township Police’s 2023 annual report documents a February 2015 review at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, followed by work on new leads. The report also records a 2023 agreement with technology companies to use an artificial-intelligence service in the investigation.

An agreement to use software is not evidence that software identified an offender or solved the disappearance. The report names no such result. November 2025 reporting continued to describe the case as unresolved.
