Local firefighters built an institution through training, equipment work and public service extending beyond the fireground.
A company serving its neighbors
The THS community archive preserves histories supplied in the fire company’s voice. They date the Medford Farms organization to 1941 and identify Dave Reed as its first chief. The later Tabernacle name belongs to the evolution of that service.
The work behind the trucks
The profiles describe Mike Callaghan combining teaching with service as chief and fire commissioner, and Al Freeman bringing experience from Medford to training and prevention work. Freeman also participated in county communications changes associated with the 2004 digital radio system. These accounts show a volunteer institution maintained through administrative and technical labor as well as emergency response.
Sources and research limits
Member tributes are retrospective institutional accounts, not neutral evaluations of individual performance. Their “today” statements describe the period of writing and are not carried forward as current appointments. Incorporation documents, equipment minutes and dated county communications records would provide useful independent checks on the wider timeline.
