Peter Myers disappearance and recovery (2022)

Myers’s family reported him missing to Cherry Hill Police. His vehicle was found abandoned on a dirt access road leading into the Waterford Township portion of Wharton State Forest. During June and July, Cherry Hill Police, New Jersey State Park Police, the State Police Missing Persons Unit, Camden County Search and Rescue and Waterford Township Police searched dense woodland without locating him or additional clues.

On October 4 a hunter in a remote Waterford section saw skeletal remains and notified local police. Authorities identified them as Myers but did not publicly explain the identification method. At the time of the October report, cause of death had not been determined and the investigation remained open. The linked story inconsistently calls him a Waterford man and a Cherry Hill missing person and spells the surname once as “Meyers.”
