What the scan supports
The damaged first column names Solomon Knopp and appears to discuss whether foul play accounted for a corpse found in the pines, with an Ocean County sheriff involved. It also seems to mention Cassville, a wife, and a child, but the surviving OCR is not coherent enough to attach those details to Knopp with confidence.
Most readable text on the same page concerns A. Arthur Hutchinson, whose family identified that corpse through a distinctive double-banded hat and his teeth. That identification makes it possible that Knopp was an earlier proposed identity or a separate missing person discussed alongside Hutchinson. Researchers should not merge the two men without consulting a clearer original.
