Tarzan’s three-hour chase

Contemporary source summarized

Tarzan, one of three monkeys that escaped from Louis Pompilio’s service station, returned to his owner after a three-hour pursuit.

The photograph and caption

The animals escaped from a cage at Pompilio’s Service Station, 63 Watchung Avenue. A crowd of children gathered on Roosevelt Avenue as the chase unfolded. Newspaper camera flashes angered Tarzan, so photographer E. T. Wiggins made the published picture without flash. The caption says the monkey finally leapt into Pompilio’s arms; it does not explain what happened to the other two animals.
