A return after reported power loss
On July 2, 2025, a Cessna 208B carrying a skydiving group attempted to return to Cross Keys Airport after reported loss of engine power during climb. The NTSB’s preliminary record lists twelve serious and three minor injuries.
Tracking data and witness accounts described a fast approach on its return. It floated along the runway, touched down near the end and continued into trees. The pilots’ injuries initially prevented investigators from obtaining their statements.
Evidence still being examined
The preliminary report records fuel aboard before takeoff and clear fuel recovered after the crash. An initial engine examination found drivetrain continuity and no debris on the chip detector. Investigators retained the cockpit display and prepared the engine for further examination.
Those observations do not establish that the engine was free of defects or explain the power loss. The latest report retrieved for this research check remains preliminary; it contains no final probable-cause determination.
