A man was found propped against a tree in Woodland Township while police investigated both foul play and a possible Ancora Hospital identity.
Investigation
Stewart was driving a side road shortly after noon when he saw the body. He reported it to Trooper Richard Flynn at Red Lion. Detective Thomas Tyrell, Sergeant Joe Gribbin, two identification specialists, and Mount Holly Coroner Russell M. Stoddard investigated. Dr. Winfield Betts of Medford performed an autopsy in Pemberton, and organs and blood were sent to the state police laboratory in Trenton.
A name in the clothing suggested the man might have been released from Ancora Hospital the previous December. Police planned to ask that man’s relatives to identify the clothing. The captured clippings do not supply the laboratory result or final identity.
