Identity and cause of death unresolved
Two people walking a dog found an unidentified man in the Stafford Forge Wildlife Management Area’s Eagleswood section on December 19, 2013.
Discovery and examination
A couple walking their dog discovered the man in woods within the Eagleswood portion of the wildlife area. He carried no identification. Police reported no obvious trauma, and an autopsy did not immediately determine either the cause or manner of death. Authorities nevertheless treated the circumstances as suspicious while seeking his identity.
Identification effort
The Toms River Police Department prepared a facial sketch. New Jersey State Police Sergeant Adam Grossman publicized the case, and Detective Sergeant Simonson at the Tuckerton barracks handled tips. The inquiry also involved the Troop C Criminal Investigation Office, State Police Major Crimes Unit, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, and Toms River police.
