Put the mounting
below the eye.
The former body pad above the spring eye is replaced by a separate lower mounting plate with upward ears, a body reinforcement-box comparison, fixing envelopes and eye-pin/washer references. The floor now has a matching estimated pocket instead of passing through the eye region.
Evidence changes the relationship
Factory rear spring fixing drawing, p. 150, separates the front mounting, spring-eye bolt and distance/special washers. Rimmer’s own AHA7174 photo confirms a plate below the eye, with upward ears, and lists Midget 1500 application. Neither source identifies this car’s fitted bracket or supplies its dimensions.
The manufacturer separates spring-hanger reinforcement from the detachable mounting. Earlier repair-box listings remain comparisons, without an asserted cross-reference or fitted 1500 identity. Existing owner views supply general body/spring context; hidden pockets, gauges, captive nuts and repair history remain unmeasured.
What is estimated
| Retained / changed | Construction and limit |
|---|---|
| Retained spring reference | Eye axis X magnitude .48/Y=.33/Z=-.54 and existing bush/leaf geometry. Source pin radius .012 body units remains a drawing choice, not a bolt specification. |
| Lower plate / ears | Plate top Y=.27, 3 mm estimated section, upward ears with 10.4 mm-radius bores. Shape, spans and interfaces are estimates. Actual threaded-ear/locking construction is unmodeled. |
| Body box / floor pocket | Roof Y=.40, inside half-width .055 body units, estimated 1.5 mm walls/lower flange and an open-rear leaf entry. The floor opening follows its outer footprint; no factory hole, cutting map or verified clearance is established. |
| Fixings / washers | Four body-fixing envelopes per plate; 4 mm distance and 2 mm special-washer sections are construction choices. Thread, bolt length, captive nuts, loaded contact and actual axial stack remain unknown. |
The plate height and open-rear entry accommodate a declared static lead-in envelope around the retained leaf pack. This is construction geometry, not a factory body cutout or suspension-travel allowance. The old body-pad/clevis primitives and separate duplicate front pin are removed. Rear shackle and damper/strap body references remain unchanged. Five non-floor cabin source meshes are retained exactly; only the two floor meshes gain the new pockets. All eight seat bores, axle placement and spring stations stay at their prior reference positions.
A coherent body pocket does not certify spring restraint, body strength, loaded ride geometry, rubber compression, eye/bolt fit or safe bracket release. The box stays fixed and the lower plate, bolts and eye retainers separate only for inspection. Do not infer which fasteners can be released under load from that display.
Whole-car review and next work
The current worktree contains native engine/bay, gearbox/axle, front suspension, brake/hub and thin front/cabin body references. Their installed transforms and most fitted dimensions remain unverified. Steering and rear spring/shackle/damper references are static. The review selected this mounting because primary drawings and a supplier photo directly contradict the old orientation.
The next major missing connection is the remote handbrake control/cable/compensating chain to the existing rear levers. Rear body anchors/stops and wheelhouse obstacles also need reconciliation. Cooling, fuel and remote controls still have open routes; owner modifications must stay distinct from factory comparisons. Model-record totals do not measure fidelity or readiness for replacement rehearsal.
Native exports
Build the spring-hanger reference before the cabin understructure; the latter reads its pocket footprint. Checks cover valid solids, matching open flange/plate and eye-axis passages, floor pockets with neighboring material, metric placement and retained adjacent source records. They do not verify fitted strength, alignment or clearance.
