Jeanne Woodford — Cedar Run source notes

The fall 2014 Cedar Run newsletter, page 3, contains a first-person interview with Jeanne A. Woodford. It documents her recollection of the 1951 summer-home purchase, 1956 bird banding, early school visits, and the great horned owlet she helped feed and later release. She says she wrote the Green Acres application in 1997 to honor Betty Woodford’s wish that the land remain undeveloped. These are her retrospective memories, not contemporaneous records of the 1950s events.

The Pinelands Preservation Alliance’s 2013 Hall of Fame profile credits her with preserving about 170 acres and managing Cedar Run after her mother’s death. The profile says preservation occurred in 1997; 2020 reporting calls it a 1998 donation. Application, grant and deed dates may differ; no closing document inspected. Use only the application date as Jeanne’s first-person statement. The archive’s earlier Cedar Run story uses the refuge’s own history for the family and current visitor details.
