Sources: Naval History and Heritage Command, Jacob Jones II, construction and final-patrol sections. The Navy itself leaves the exact number of torpedo hits uncertain.

Sources: NOAA Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory, 70th Anniversary of the Great Atlantic Hurricane, September 15, 2014. Wexler’s original 1945 paper is identified there but was not separately read.

Checked extent and limits: Complete NOAA retrospective read. Avoided incorrectly presenting all maritime fatalities as NewJersey deaths; original radar logs not inspected.

5. r-p-resor-tanker-loss-1942

File: pinebarrens/entry/r-p-resor-tanker-loss-1942.html

Added the Resor survivors’ separate escapes and the museum photograph record connecting the tanker loss with Manasquan’s rescue station.

Sources: Joseph G. Bilby and Harry Ziegler, R. P. Resor account reproduced by Monmouth Timeline, with museum photograph captions and bibliography. The original survivor statements and newspaper articles were not separately inspected.

File: pinebarrens/entry/atlantus-ferry-pier-wreck-1926.html

Added Atlantus’s failed1926 ferry-pier project while excluding unverified transatlantic-service claims.

Sources: Jason Nark, The Philadelphia Inquirer, August 18, 2026, timeline and reporting on the investigation. KYW, April 13, 2026, renewed police appeal.

Checked extent and limits: Complete Inquirer article read and KYW police-appeal report checked. GoPro footage itself not public; unrelated charges against another person omitted. No new resolution found.

8. della-penna-dolores-search-1972

File: pinebarrens/entry/della-penna-dolores-search-1972.html

Added the 2020 garage excavation in Della Penna’s case and distinguished the documented search from an anonymously sourced motive theory.

Sources: Dave Schratwieser, FOX 29, February 20–21, 2020. The report uses the spelling “Delores”; other records use “Dolores.” No grand-jury transcript or forensic report was inspected.

Checked extent and limits: Full FOX 29 article read; targeted later status search no resolution. Direct police case files not available in this pass. Omitted graphic details and unnamed suspect allegations.

Sources: New Jersey State Police bulletin U284560766. Ramapo IGG Center, Burlington County John Doe 1988 section, checked September 7, 2026. Linked NamUs record returned an unpopulated page and was not used as independent corroboration.

File: pinebarrens/entry/parker-gary-lorraine-search-2021.html

Sources: Dan Alexander, New Jersey 101.5, November 30, 2021, direct interview with Captain Vaughn. PhillyVoice, December 1, 2021 update, confirming recovery and the pending autopsies.

Checked extent and limits: Full NJ101.5 report and PhillyVoice update read. Later cause search produced speculation but no verified medical finding; speculation excluded. No disappearance-date choice made because contemporaneous reports differ.

11. u-869-wreck-identification-1997

File: pinebarrens/entry/u-869-wreck-identification-1997.html

Sources: NOVA, Hitler’s Lost Sub transcript, 2000, identification narrative. Naval History and Heritage Command, Howard D. Crow, February 1945 attack. Chatterton, Kohler and Yurga, The Fate of U-869 Reexamined, Part III, 2009, competing physical-evidence interpretation.

Sources: Naval History and Heritage Command, H-Gram 019-5, U-151 and Carolina account. Passenger and crew figures describe those aboard before evacuation; thirteen is the reported subsequent loss.

Checked extent and limits: Indexed Navy Carolina section read; direct reopen returned 502. Original survivor depositions not read. Omitted inconsistent passenger-versus-crew breakdown of thirteen fatalities.

Sources: Charney and colleagues, Mesoscale simulations during the Double Trouble State Park wildfire, 2003 AMS conference abstract. Forest Service conference paper, introduction and observations. Both represent the same research, not independent confirmations.

Checked extent and limits: Full conference abstract read through direct HTTP retrieval after the web reopen failed; paper introduction read; not a full independent review of the model or later 2010 journal article. Approximately 175 words derived across the two versions of this one work. Impact figures attributed to study because other reports differ.

14. mays-landing-excursion-wreck-1880

File: pinebarrens/entry/mays-landing-excursion-wreck-1880.html

Added the two-train sequence and household emergency response to the 1880 Mays Landing excursion wreck, with the suppression claim clearly excluded.

Checked extent and limits: NPS article and municipal history storm sections fully read. Exact tide counts differ by account; not forced into one count. Omitted dramatic wave-height estimates and local damage superlatives. No original shelter register examined.

Final review

All 15 manifest items have distinct HTML files, year metadata and Updates navigation. Research dates added September 7, 2026. Single-source pages are labeled Source reviewed. Narrative derivations were kept below 200 words per source, counting shared versions of the same work together; no extended quotations.

Targeted September 7 official-domain searches found no newer public resolution for Lopez, Della Penna or the Parker autopsy question. Absence of a search result is not proof of present investigative status: these pages retain dated reporting and explicit limits. The Woodland unidentified-person page was checked against the NJSP bulletin and Ramapo in-progress listing. No contact with families or investigators was made.
