Round four: five substantive updates

Checked September 7, 2026 against the 255-entry baseline. All five are existing entries; new paragraphs introduce evidence from sources not previously used on their pages.

  • Whitesbog: Read HALS NJ-1, printed pp. 27–29, from the downloaded federal landscape history. Distinguish the correspondence, housing improvements and continuing criticism of child labor. Inspected Hine image nclc.05304 directly; the LOC catalog endpoint was unavailable, so checked its reproduced caption on Commons. Age and duration of employment remain caption claims. Updated title and summary to encompass labor as well as blueberry experiments.
  • Batsto: Read HABS NJ-880’s five-page record and visually checked its construction description. Retrieved LOC’s catalog JSON and inspected Nathaniel R. Ewan’s May 7, 1937 street photograph. Kept material observations separate from the survey’s paternalistic interpretation and sweeping labor assertions. No speculative tower measurement or disputed military chronology added.
  • Woodbine: Retrieved the original USDA 1907 annual-report OCR (Internet Archive CAT11088335008), read printed pp. 301–302. Added seasonal instruction, individual gardens, payment, practical examinations and entry requirements. The separately identified 1908 school report was not retrieved and its enrollment figures are not used. Period extended through 1907.
  • James Still: Read Preservation New Jersey’s October 3, 2023 report, including attributed architect and archaeologist comments. Added actual restoration details and clearly attributed interpretations of household material. Botanical research potential is not described as a completed identification of remedies. Period extended to include preservation work.
  • Tuckerton Railroad: Downloaded the 1880 federal census transportation volume section and visually inspected printed pp. 548 and 590. Debt figures, dates, interest and the one-third express fraction were checked against the scan rather than relying on damaged OCR. Liability totals are not treated as sale proceeds. The advertised auction’s outcome remains unverified.

All new sections carry direct links and access limitations. Original images remain at their repositories. Manifest: round-four-root-items.json.
