Round four: community archives and primary scans

Research checked September 7, 2026. Fifteen new entries; authoritative manifest round-four-community-items.json. Read the existing 255-entry search catalog before reserving subjects. No catalog/changelog/Git edits. All public entries have a single h1, category eyebrow, period/data-year, status, source limits, Updates navigation and working local links.

Method and source accounting

This pass followed THS archive branches into images rather than relying on captions. Directly inspected five church-history scans, seven military/financial scans, six Paisley documents, a map and census page, three newspaper clipping pieces, a Bicentennial program, three farm photographs, a storefront photograph and two Pioneer photographs. Contemporary records are separated from later interpretations, institutional accounts and oral recollections. No exact ruin/grave coordinates are published.

Source budgets are shared across entries. New church scans each support only their own entry, with total lede plus narrative/headings below 190 words (citations included in that conservative count). Lord of Life also uses two separate institutional publications. THS’s general veteran page contributes approximately 100 words across the three biographies; independently inspected discharge/pay/voucher images carry the substantive details. THS’s family-photo catalog supplies identification only, approximately 110 words collectively across Retreat and Doughty; each photograph is independently inspected. THS community-group prose supplies only the Woodland property identification; Pioneer relies on the separately read interview/photograph publication and independent images. The Paisley host page is discovery/provenance only; its scanned documents carry the actual narrative. Previously used oral-history and Harriet Haines material were revisited as leads but not used in the new entries, avoiding cumulative reuse of their prose budgets. Research notes below describe audit decisions rather than reproducing extended source summaries.

Numbered ledger

  1. paisley-buyers-promises-tax-bills — New. Host: https://tabernaclehistoricalsociety.org/ths-home-page/historic-archives/notes-on-paisley/ . Inspected receipt, two-page-spread prospectus, Freeman advertisement, tax notice and liquidation editorial; all direct image URLs are in the public entry. Receipt actual date September 4 contradicts caption September 11. Prospectus contains a December 9, 1888 reprint and a December 14 series opening, so the caption’s October 31 cannot date this version. Tax form says block 409, $40 valuation and $0.84 total ($0.72 tax/$0.12 costs); caption confuses $1.79 rate with payment and truncates the block number. Do not adopt editorial accusation as a conviction. No liquidation court file or total investor losses located.

  2. sandy-ridge-cranberry-housing — New. Host: https://tabernaclehistoricalsociety.org/ths-home-page/historic-archives/notes-on-sandy-ridge/ . Inspected 1929 map crop and 1940 census sheet 8B, ED 3-108, April 25. Map measurements are explicitly approximate; crop lacks title block, so date/provenance remain attributed. Census distinguishes Wharton farm labor from road construction. Rejecting an inferred sawmill identification from an unproven concrete base; neither map building symbols nor census absences establish closure or demolition. No access directions.

  3. william-dennis-discharge-state-pay — New. https://tabernaclehistoricalsociety.org/ths-home-page/people/tabernacle-civil-war-veterans/civil-war-vets/ . Independently inspected discharge copy and Treasury receipt. Actual copy says Company G, 34th, while summary heading says 10th. Receipt covers a specific state-pay interval and is not total army earnings. Physical-description fields are blank. Southampton occupation/burial context from attributed society compilation, not a newly inspected census. Avoided disability assertion and battle participation.

  4. frank-gardiner-discharge-mark — New. Same veteran hub; separate discharge and pay images. Copy reads July 27, 1861 enrollment, versus August 17 in quoted grave-registration summary. These might reflect distinct enrollment/muster events but this was not established, so discrepancy remains open. Discharge September 16, 1864; receipt next day, $52.73. Receipt X is labeled his mark; it does not establish lifetime illiteracy. No uninspected service file represented as read.

  5. gilbert-knight-family-relief — New. Same veteran hub; three separate voucher images treated as one accounting record. Read Knight’s $18 line and cover/warrant ordering $11,487.75 state-to-county payment. Host’s claim of federal checks is not supported by these images. Numeric abbreviated columns not fully interpreted. No assumption that all county money went to Knight or that the relief satisfied his household needs.

  6. church-christ-cutts-household-meetings — New. https://tabernaclehistoricalsociety.org/ths-home-page/historic-archives/historic-churches-and-cemeteries/church-of-christ/ . Inspected 2019/12/church-of-christ-1.jpg. Host introduces 2001 contribution, but scan explicitly credits E. E. Joynes, Gospel Advocate, March 9, 1944. Correct provenance matters: thirty-year recollection, not 1914 contemporaneous minutes. Displacement from lodge unelaborated; no persecution or culprit invented. Statewide first-meetinghouse claim rejected pending comparison.

  7. holy-eucharist-volunteer-networks — New. Same church branch, /holy-eucharist/; inspected 2019/12/holy-eucharist-catholic-church.jpg. Institutional account of services and festival labor, all anchored to 2001 rather than current operations. More than 600 volunteers is the account’s figure, not independently audited. No present festival schedule or aid eligibility represented.

  8. lord-life-school-room-partnerships — New. Same branch, /lord-of-life-lutheran-church/; inspected 2019/12/lord-of-life-church.jpg. Also read https://www.lolfamilycorner.com/about-us and https://archive.constantcontact.com/fs042/1102356663463/archive/1109090965802.html . The latter is January 30, 2012 institutional newsletter and includes Jones’s recollection of borrowed spaces. Founding, first worship, formal organization, building, center and preschool are distinct milestones. No present pastor or membership total used. Source page’s old worship times are historical only.

  9. medford-farms-baptist-organizing — New. Same branch, /medford-farms-baptist-church/; inspected 2019/12/baptist-church.jpg. First-person institutional memorial with unnamed author in reproduction. Canvass/meeting/baptism are described, not an invented date of building construction. Current pastoral assertions in the old text omitted. Distinct from existing Medford Farms development story: organizing and shared meeting space.

  10. tabernacle-methodist-circuit-finance — New. Same branch, /tabernacle-methodist-church/; inspected 2019/12/methodist-church.jpg. Circuit and building finance are fresh subjects. No original circuit minutes or ledger claimed read. Rejected broad colonial harmony/Indigenous worship claims and exact 1778 founding without primary support. The proposed lower-level classrooms remained a proposal in this text; no assumed completion.

  11. tabernacle-bicentennial-athletic-day — New. https://tabernaclehistoricalsociety.org/events/1976-usa-bicentennial-celebration-in-tabernacle/ . Inspected 2021/08/1976-bc-event-list-joann-moore.jpg. Program date July 17, rain date July 18, not generic July 4. Baking auction benefit explicitly documented; no fundraising proceeds invented. Photograph collection description provides limited retrospective event context; complete sequence not audited. Distinct from Patty Bowker biography and Harvest Home.

  12. pioneer-sportsmen-moving-clubhouse — New. https://forums.njpinebarrens.com/threads/the-pioneer-sportsmans-club.14182/ , initial post and relocation post read, with published interview provenance (2012 meeting/2013 site visit and emails). Inspected THS copies 2022/09/pioneer-6-guy-thompson.jpg and pioneer-7-gun-club-front-guy-thompson.jpg. 1947 is visible on album mount. Land/building ownership and January 16, 1958 purchase remain attributed to Thompson; actual deed not read. Later arson allegation omitted. Distinct from Sandy Ridge farm/census story: building tenure and organization relocation.

  13. woodland-gun-club-dances-membership — New. https://tabernaclehistoricalsociety.org/ths-home-page/about-ths/tabernacle-fire-company-histories/ . Inspected March 10, 1955 officers/membership notice in two image pieces and later dance notice. Header/caption conflict: dance image filename identifies June 9, 1959, caption says June 9, 1955; crop lacks printed date. Public period and text preserve uncertainty. Delaware Township headquarters are not the Tabernacle hunting property. No proof dance proceeds were for fundraising, so reserved provisional phrase was dropped. Alleged 1969 fire omitted.

  14. retreat-blueberry-flats-women — New. https://tabernaclehistoricalsociety.org/ths-home-page/people/historic-inhabitants/ . Three direct Todd Horner collection images linked publicly and independently inspected: packing-house flat assembly, Edna/daughters field image, Gordon field/equipment portrait. Caption supplies identities/activity/place; images show arrangement and objects. Avoided disputed birth dates (catalog has internally inconsistent Edna caption), precise photograph dates, machinery identification, wages/hours, coercion, unpaid labor and inferred employment contracts. Distinct from blueberry cultivation/science stories: packaging and family work as photographed.

  15. doughty-nixon-store-public-functions — New. Same photo hub, distinct Doughty storefront image independently viewed. Also read complete official notice https://nj.gov/dep/fgw/news/chksta98.htm dated October 28, 1998. Store history is intentionally a pair of documented moments, not a continuous ownership chain. No unsupported early founding date. Oral-history discussions were searched but not reused publicly because earlier rounds already drew on that page. Official notice concerns historic check-station availability; no present hunting instructions or current store claims.

Reviewed but not promoted

The general historic-homesteads gallery is mostly undated photographs/captions, too thin for additional standalone building narratives. General historic-inhabitants genealogy often comes from Ancestry/Find a Grave and contains conflicting identities or dates; used only narrowly attributed photo identification. Veteran hub has impossible/internal chronology errors in several other biographies, including Budden death dates, Crain enrollment chronology and postwar service dates for a Civil War unit; those were not imported. No count padding through separate biographies with only a tombstone or a copied census claim.

The 1976 seniors’ tea and individual hunting-club photo galleries could support future work with programs and oral interviews, but were not counted as separate episodes here. Paisley’s many newspaper allegations and health-cure advertisements require careful comparison before any broader fraud or medical narrative. A building-and-loan prospectus is evidence of promotion, not of a successful loan book.
