7. athos-anchor-oil-spill-2004

File: pinebarrens/entry/athos-anchor-oil-spill-2004.html

Added the Athos I submerged-oil response and the Supreme Court’s distinction between contractual responsibility and the anchor’s origin.

Sources: NOAA, Athos I response and restoration account. Supreme Court, CITGO v. Frescati, March 30, 2020, case background and holding. The opinion rounds the spill to 264,000 gallons.

Checked extent and limits: Complete NOAA narrative read; Supreme Court syllabus, background and holding reviewed. No claim about who abandoned the anchor; no current legal advice.

8. barnegat-emergency-road-landing-1990

File: pinebarrens/entry/barnegat-emergency-road-landing-1990.html

Added the Barnegat forced landing’s terrain constraints and official magneto-failure finding without inventing a street or occupants.

Sources: NTSB final report NYC90DHD03, analysis and findings. Aircraft registration N63BH distinguishes this incident from other regional forced landings.

Checked extent and limits: Primary report analysis and findings read. Sparse record; no original component report obtained.

9. cross-keys-skydiving-overrun-2025

File: pinebarrens/entry/cross-keys-skydiving-overrun-2025.html

Added the Cross Keys runway-overrun evidence and separated preliminary engine observations from an unissued final cause finding.

Sources: NTSB preliminary report ERA25LA254, three pages, retrieved September 7, 2026. Preliminary information is subject to revision.

Checked extent and limits: Current GenerateNewestReport endpoint downloaded and all three pages read; still preliminary. No reliance on early news descriptions of injury severity or inferred fuel exhaustion.

10. hammonton-helicopter-collision-2025

File: pinebarrens/entry/hammonton-helicopter-collision-2025.html

Added Hammonton’s surveillance and paint-transfer evidence with the tracking-data gap and preliminary status clearly identified.

Sources: NTSB preliminary report ERA26FA077, three pages, retrieved September 7, 2026. No final cause finding was available from this endpoint.

Checked extent and limits: Current primary report downloaded and fully read. December 28 date follows primary report, avoiding December 29 typo in some reporting; no speculative pilot blame.

Checked extent and limits: Full contemporary WHYY report read; attributed prosecutor findings. No direct official release or full utility engineering report obtained. No current injury condition implied.

14. tropicana-garage-collapse-appeal-2003

File: pinebarrens/entry/tropicana-garage-collapse-appeal-2003.html

Added Tropicana’s reinforcement findings and mixed 2007–2008 appeal outcome, avoiding the claim that all citations survived or all were overturned.

Sources: D.C. Circuit, Fabi Construction v. Secretary of Labor, November 27, 2007, background, reinforcement findings and disposition. August 29, 2008 fee decision, judicial text reproduced by FindLaw. OSHA’s engineering PDF was indexed but blocked direct retrieval; the narrative follows the court documents. This is not a comprehensive account of separate civil settlements.

Checked extent and limits: Primary 2007 appellate PDF background, findings and disposition read; 2008 fee decision text reviewed. OSHA PDF returned403, so no claim of reading complete engineering report. No exact final total OSHA penalty asserted.

15. texas-tower-four-structural-inquiry-1961

File: pinebarrens/entry/texas-tower-four-structural-inquiry-1961.html

Added Texas Tower 4’s contemporary congressional findings on damaged bracing, offshore repairs and the need for independent review of surviving platforms.

Sources: Congressional Record, June 28, 1961, printed pages 11568–11570, Stennis’s presentation and inserted chronology. The five hearing volumes and separate military proceedings were not fully reviewed.

Checked extent and limits: Downloaded congressional PDF and read relevant presentation and chronology. Dates and institutional criticism attributed to record. No unsupported espionage explanation or criminal verdict inferred; separate military proceedings not audited.

Final audit

Exactly 15 new entry files and 15 unique manifest slugs. All public pages have data-year metadata, Research checked September 7, 2026, and Updates navigation. Public narrative plus lede ranges from 158 to 183 words; interpretive/source-access caveats are distinct from derived facts. Each investigation uses its own report, with no report shared across multiple new stories. Mirrors of a report are treated as the same source, not additional budgets. No extended quotations.

Current-report checks: the NTSB newest-report endpoints for Cross Keys ERA25LA254 and Hammonton ERA26FA077 still returned preliminary reports during this pass. Florence RRD25FR001 is marked completed. Conch’rd includes the Commandant’s January 16, 2026 closure. Tropicana includes the mixed 2007 appellate disposition and the related 2008 fee decision, rather than stopping at proposed OSHA citations.

Access limitations: direct retrieval of OSHA’s engineering report was blocked with HTTP 403; the Tropicana narrative therefore rests on court documents. Local Coast Guard download failed DNS both normally and on authorized retry; the indexed primary PDF supplied the Conch’rd summary, conclusions and final action. No redacted identities were reconstructed. No copyrighted news text was quoted at length.

Additional leads reviewed but not counted: USS Nina has a useful identification-history puzzle but its documented wreck lies off Maryland/Delaware, outside the preferred regional focus. USS Tarantula’s loss was near Fire Island and was also rejected on geography. Texas Tower 4 was retained because the original congressional record explicitly locates the platform off New Jersey. Separate military legal proceedings and complete tower hearing volumes remain follow-up work; no claim about their verdicts is made.
